I know. I know. I know. Neither of our current Presidential candidates is sparking joy and we all want to Marie Kondo the whole situation. But the election is fast approaching and we’ve got what we’ve got.

What are we going to do?

The internet isn’t the best place for nuanced conversations so you are invited to join us, your community, to discuss this political moment and how we can be strategic, visionary and grapple with reality in relation to our values.

And there will be food.

Together we will discuss:

    Black Church & NC Politics

    The Black church has been a life force of liberatory movements. Simultaneously, Black churches have supported oppressive politics and canididates. This conversation will discuss the Black church’s role in state and local politics and how churches can be lovingly invited and challenged to support progressive causes while remaining in alignment with religious values.

    Under 30 Voters

    The story of the apathetic young person is a myth. Most young adults are very aware of their values but don’t see themselves represented in the political system as it is. This conversation will give them the mic to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas and we can all learn how to build opportunities for young people to participate and lead in this political moment.

  • Hearing Our Muslim Neighbors

    In this election, as in all that have preceded it, our vote has repercussions for the entire world. That is particularly true in Palestine as the genocide wages on. It is important to listen to our Muslim neighbors, witness their grappling and take their recommendations into deep consideration. This conversation will give us all an opportunity to listen, learn and dream of something better together.

    Fighting/Fixing the System

    There are many thoughts on how to build better state, country and world. But one thing that most people agree on is that it will take multiple approaches. In this conversation local activist Quay Weston and Braxton Winston, former Charlotte City Council member and candidate for NC Commissioner of Labor, will talk about their individual appoaches to change and how we can work together towards common goals.
